MIAMI (Reuters) – The Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks secured places in the playoffs on Sunday in an exciting climax to the NFL’s regular season. The Packers beat the Chicago Bears 10-3 and will visit the Philadelphia Eagles in the wildcard round next week. With Green Bay’s victory they denied the New York Giants a place in the playoffs even though they beat the Washington Redskins 17-14.

Colts nip Titans to win AFC South title

INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) – The Indianapolis Colts won the AFC South title and booked a record-tying ninth successive trip to the NFL playoffs when Adam Vinatieri nailed a 43-yard field goal as time expired to beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The 23-20 victory boosted the Colts (10-6) to third seed in the conference and set up a first-round playoff contest next week against the New York Jets in a rematch of last year’s AFC title game that sent Indianapolis to the Super Bowl. Next week’s other AFC playoff tilt will pit fourth-seeded AFC West-winning Kansas City Chiefs against the visiting Baltimore Ravens.
