INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts’ fan base doesn’t appear to be too optimistic about this year’s prospects in the wake of all the changes to the team’s personnel and leadership. The Colts are planning to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the top pick of the NFL Draft, and they will be surrounding him with a lot of new players, both from free agency and whatever they pick up from rest of the draft. More: Luck Of The Draft Blog With a new general manager and coach in place, most fans think 2012 will be a rebuilding year for a team hoping to lift itself from an NFL-worst 2-14 campaign in 2011.Owner Jim Irsay is upbeat and optimistic on Twitter.”Historic week here in Indy…the clock we’re on has no hands,” Irsay tweeted Monday morning.”I just hope it is better than 2-14,” commented Andy Stoflet on RTV6′s Facebook wall. Most believe it will take some time to mold so many new players together with some remaining stalwarts.”They have to have more than an offseason to figure out how they work together,” commented Siren Suzanne. “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” Some are still steaming about the departure of quarterback Peyton Manning, who will be roaming the sidelines in Denver this season.”Don’t really care what the Colts do this year — will be following Peyton,” Shelly Hooper commented. Some Colts fans are taking a wait-and-see approach.”I am waiting until after the draft to see what we get before I make any real decisions about how this season will go,” commented Cassi Enkhorn.Others are certain that it will be a long climb back to the top.”I think the Colts will continue to suck for 10 years,” commented Lynn Thomas.”Lots of negative comments! Can’t we all just wish them well?” commented Karen Music-Fleeger.In that vein, some have some hope for this season.”I really think they will surprise us all.
